Drone Video & Photography FAQ’s
How long can you fly?
One of our rechargeable batteries lasts approximately 38 minutes, depending on wind velocity. The higher the wind velocity, the more energy the drone will drain from the battery. We also bring extra batteries with us so we can take as many aerial photos as you need. Replacing drone batteries only takes a moment, so we can quickly get the drone back in the air.
How far can you fly?
For safety reasons, we’re not able to fly drones out of our line of vision. We also have to make sure we maintain a safe distance away from airports and heliports. In 2016, the Federal Aviation Administration ordered commercial drones not fly more than 400 feet above ground level.
Does weather affect your ability to shoot?
If it is raining or snowing on the day of your shoot, we won’t be able to fly the drone. The electronics inside the drone are susceptible to water damage. To avoid shaky video quality, wind speeds also need to be below 10 mph. The calmer the wind on the day of your shoot, the better quality video you can expect.
Since Michigan weather is always changing, we stay alert to weather conditions and let you know well in advance if the shoot needs to be delayed until there are better weather conditions.
Do you watch the drone footage in real time?
We are able to watch the drone footage in real time to ensure we get the best shots. During the drone video and aerial photography session, we recommend you be there to make sure we get all the shots and angles you want. However, if you have a busy schedule that prevents you from being there the day of the shoot, we can also fly our drone solo and show the footage to you later for review.
Can you fly drones over crowds?
For safety reasons, we do not fly our drone over crowds of people. However, we can still take qualityof a crowd by taking shots at an angle from a safe distance.
